"Baptized By The Void" -(Originally composed in 2011 after dealing with losing a home to a foreclosure, the initial stages of the song's development was nothing more than a grinding tapestry of controlled feedback acting as an intro in search of song. This embryonic version had little in the way of something you could call 'harmony' or 'melody', sans plodding drum programming I attempted.

But little by little it was beginning to be re-shaped as a chord progression switching between keys and octaves that I dabbled on the piano: assigning instrumental roles. Then,it transformed into what I initially described as my tribute to bands like Nadja,The Angelic Process, The Chameleons, and the Cocteau Twins, all filtered through multi-tracking myself playing against weeks of tedious programming. This was prior to me finally sitting down and coming up with lyrics and a potential vocal melody.

A 'live in the studio' version was recorded later using stand-alone instrumentation like an electric four-string bass guitar, an SR-18 drum machine, and even the appearance of electric violin. But there still is something of a 'eureka' synergy of the original album cut, flaws and all. Here I notice that songcraft is developing in my 'wall of sound' composition style. Lyrically, the song went through several changes
before the final vocals were laid down, more often than not the themes were there, just the delivery of the words was off.

Ideas for multi-tracked mock choirs of my harmonized voice were dropped in favor of the brief snippets I did write lyrically and sing, adding to the song's sense of vastness and overwhelming loneliness.)
